The 3 Major Advantages of the Moling Process
There are different pipe replacement used today that are more advanced than a usual open-cut…
You’ve just pulled the plug out of your kitchen sink after doing the dinner dishes, only to discover that the water isn’t draining. It’s most likely you’ve grabbed a household plunger and plunged away at the drain hole, hoping to see the water disappear down it rapidly as per normal. When the water stays put or drains very slowly, you know you have a serious plumbing issue on your hands. Sound familiar? Other signs that your sewer line may be blocked or damaged include hearing gurgling or bubbling sounds from sinks and basins, toilet water not flushing as it should, awful smells coming from pipes in the bathroom, laundry and kitchen areas of your home, and water overflowing from your sewer gully out in the garden.
If you’ve experienced any of the above, it is vital that you call a plumber immediately to assess your pipes. What is not vital though, is to fall into a state of panic. It’s understandable that upon realising that your sewer system isn’t functioning properly that you may worry about the costs and mess associated with excavations and pipe replacement. However, there is now an impressive alternative to such pipe rehabilitation methods that does not require any digging at all. ‘Pipe relining’ is an innovative method that removes the need for pipe replacement, thus the need for destroying your property.
Pipe relining – the basics
Rather than replacing pipes, pipe relining involves lining the affected pipe with a fibreglass tube that has been soaked in an epoxy resin. This effectively creates a new, stronger pipe within the host pipe without the mess and fuss associated with pipe replacement. It is suitable for pipes made from PVC, cast iron, ceramic and a wide range of other materials, and for pipes measuring 40mm to 600mm.
