A Blocked Drain in Gordon
Kate stretched lazily. She had absolutely nothing on her agenda that day. So, she fully intended to enjoy the extended weekend by doing absolutely nothing on that day. She would order food and simply vegetate in front of the TV!
But, all her grandiose plans were just about to go down the drain – literally!
That morning, while brushing her teeth, she noticed that water was not emptying out from the wash basin. It was taking too long. Kate prided herself on being a resourceful girl. So, she retrieved the plunger from the attic and got to work. She figured that removing the drain blockage at the earliest would be the prudent thing to do.
After a few minutes of vigorous plunging, the water went down. Not bad, she thought. She beamed as her heart filled with pride.
A few hours later, Kate was ready for her bath. She decided that she would use the bathtub instead of the shower. After the luxurious bath, it was time to clear the bathtub of the soapy water. She could then order some food and watch a movie on TV.
When she pulled the plug from the tub, to her horror, she realized that the water was not draining. With an impending sense of doom, she went to retrieve the plunger a second time that morning. Something was not right. She could feel it in her guts.
Her worst fears came true when after spending more than half an hour plunging the blocked drain , she was still standing in knee deep water with the plunger in her hand and sweat running down her face and neck. The blocked drain in the sewer line was refusing to budge and she was exhausted. There was only one thing left to do – call the plumber.
Fortunately, she knew of an expert Gordon plumber who had repaired the heater in her sister’s home in Killara, Pymble, St Ives, Lindfield, Roseville and Turramurra. Her sister had praised the plumber’s work, saying that they had been very thorough and cost conscious. On an impulse, Kate had collected the number.
She called the plumber and fixed an appointment. The plumber agreed to come shortly after lunch. That gave her an hour’s time and she decided that she would clear out as much of the bathwater as she could from the tub using a mug!
By the time the plumber came, there was very little water in the tub. Kate explained what happened.
“Plunging is a good idea when your drains get blocked but in this case, you only managed to shift the block. We’ll need to use the snake,” he explained.
Kate left him to his job as she did not really relish witnessing all that he dredged up from the drains. In half an hour’s time, the plumber was done. He then handed her a very reasonable bill. Before he left, the plumber explained that there was a guarantee on the work and that she could call him back in case the problem came back.
Like her sister, Kate too was impressed by the quality of this plumber’s work. No wonder they were the best plumbers not just in Gordon but also in [areas].
